Pretty much sums it up, but the risk wasn't just on Vella's part, although he had been back playing, it wasn't that long since his cancer scare. Very important signing for us, immense in his first two seasons, at times he put that much effort in over a sustained period of games, often playing 60 minutes plus that it must have taken years off his life. If nothing else, the signing of Fozzard has allowed us to not criminally flog Vella to death this year, hopefully prolonging his career. |

Amazing, now we are top 4 some on here feel the urge to slate players from the previous two seasons, who quite frankly we would have not had a prayer in signing ten years ago. Remember, we came up into SL and had to recruit players who could do a basic survival job for us, these players (like Gannon etc) kept us in SL and made the platform for this season. We get a lot of posters having a go at the likes of Fitzy, but worship the likes of Stan and Mikali (neither of whom have been anywhere near as good as Fitzy this season). Personally, I thank the likes of Gannon for coming here and helping us survive long enough for us to be able to attract better players like Newton, Dobson, Webster etc. Just remember 10 yrs ago and the dross we could only attract then. |

Problem being 75% of fans that turn up now weren't interested 10 years ago. Good post. |

Thought Gannon did alright for us to be honest. Good solid pro who never made many mistakes and also gets extra points for "most exuberant celebration of the season" in the away game at the Galpharm. |
