Fanatical Rovers supporter Richard Blowman is joining former Dockers player Pete Stephenson and former FC player Steve Prescott in what has been described as his most gruelling charity challenge to date.

Richard a Marine Engineer is a fan that has joined the team, wanting to make a difference and help raise as much money as possible for such a worthy cause.

Richard joins Steve who is battling stomach cancer and completed his most recent chemotherapy treatment in April. His latest challenge, which begins in France on Monday (17th August), will include cycling 800 miles, rowing 24 miles and running 13 miles in less than two weeks.

Steve will be joined by former Hull Dockers player Pete Stephenson, 30, of east Hull, who broke his neck playing rugby in 2005.

Pete will complete the cycling and running sections on a adapted quad bike.

The pair will be part of a 24-strong team including former players, fans and businessmen.

It is hoped the challenge will raise about £80,000 for the Steve Prescott Foundation, which he set up in 2007 to support Christie's Hospital in Manchester and Try Assist, formerly known as the Rugby Football League Benevolent Fund.

Steve, 35, from St Helens, said: "The more money you can raise, the more people you can help.

"I have been overwhelmed by the support for myself and through my foundation."

The challenge will see the team take on:

- A 720-mile bike ride from Catalans Dragons' stadium, in Perpignan, to Calais before boarding a ferry to cross the English Channel.

- A drive from Dover to Ashford, in Kent, before cycling 80 miles to Windsor Castle.

- A 24-mile row down the Thames in a dragon boat. Comedian Johnny Vegas has also agreed to take part in this section of the challenge.

- A 13-mile run from RAF Uxbridge to the Bobby Moore statue at Wembley Stadium, where Steve will present the match ball in time for the Challenge Cup final on August 29.

Among those taking part in the challenge is Anthony Sullivan, son of the late Clive Sullivan and former Hull KR, St Helens and Great Britain player, former St Helens and Great Britain captain Paul Sculthorpe, and former Hull FC and Great Britain player Lee Jackson.
