Rovers have given academy back-rower Scott Taylor a full-time 2 year contract. For those who haven't seen him play, he's got a great future ahead of him and he's definitely a player with first team potential if he keeps developing the way he is at the moment. Congratulations Scott!! Hopefully more youngsters from the academy and reserves will be following too....the likes of richie beaumont, james haynes, ben hardcastle and louis sherriff |

He's scored 8 trys in something like 4 games for the under 18's. Good prospect, hopefully he'll break into the first team in the next couple of years. |

It would be nice to be half way down the league to give us a chance to play some of the youngsters in the team while resting some of the regulars in a season that's already finished, but we can't, we're third. |

How odd. SL appearances this year by players 21 or under at clubs higher than you : Ryan Hall (age 21) 16 Danny Allan (age 19) 5 Kallum Watkins (age 18 ) 10 Paul McShane (age 19) 3 Ben Jones-Bishop (age 20) 1 Paul Clough (age 21) 17 Kyle Eastmond (age 19) 6 Chris Dean (age 21) 5 Gareth Frodsham (age 19) 3 Gary Wheeler (age 19) 8 Andrew Dixon (age 19) 3 Matt Ashurst (age 21) 11 Tom Armstrong (age 19) 4 Jonny Lomax (age 18 ) 3 Jacob Emmitt (age 20)2 Total = 97 Rovers Liam Watts (age 18 ) 0 Scott Spaven (age 19) 0 James Haynes (age 19) 1 |

Our first year had a threat of relegation, which wasn't the best time to be bring youngsters into the team. Last season saw Rovers finish 7th, well above some well established Super League sides, and this season has us in third position with ten games to go and the youngsters are starting to come through. |

What a dull response - where's the sport in that? Salford have just come up: Richie Myler (age 19) 14 Jordan Turner (age 20) 13 Stefan Ratchford (age 20) 12 Luke Adamson (age 21) 15 Andrew Thornley (age 20) 1 Adam Sidlow (age 21) 6 Dean McGilvray (age 21) 2 Jason Walton (age 19) 1 Total 64 |
