I hope you're right. I'd still like to see our performances improve, but at least we've been grinding out games and taking the points. That's a big part of why we're 2nd at the halfway mark, but I still don't think we've put a full 80 in (apart from against Celtic in the cup).

Thankyou. It remains a big if though. Look how quickly your good start has given way to wailing and gnashing of teeth on your forum! With thin squads, dips in form and confidence, and injuries to avoid and a League where anybody can beat anybody on their day, hopes can be as fragile as they are now high.
Consistency throughout 27 rounds, and then the play-offs is the key and this team has never done that. Every team that becomes successful (in terms even SmokeyTA couldn't argue with) has to do it for the first time at some point though.

And Sheffield.
DANNY LOCKWOOD - LEAGUE WEEKLY (18-5-09)
I'M SURE THERE IS NO CORRELATION BETWEEN THE FACT THAT THE FRONT RUNNERS FOR THE 2009 MEDIA WHINGING AWARD ARE FROM GATESHEAD AND HULL FC, FORMERLY THE B*ST*RD-TWINS OF ONE OF RUGBY LEAGUE'S LOUSIER IDEAS.
aye thanks matey, it's a joy to watch rovers at the moment, and ive seen the good bad and the ugly. the only thing i heart from hull fans at the moment is about how poo the rugby is and how boring it is, where as for us it's the other way round. success comes from consistency though, i don't think rovers will make GF or CC final. We are playing excellently atm though, i just don't think we can carry it on for the rest of this SL Season.

I think you have hit the nail on the head, they not only WANT to win with a desperation, they are a tight bunch of players who will do anything for the whole team. Add to that a forward thinking coach who is capable of devising game plans for every situation AND has a back up in case we need to switch during a game and its easy to see why we are having the current success.
If we continue I don't see any reason why we will not have a say in who wins it, I am not sure we can WIN it though, we have a good squad that is well balanced but I think Saints and Leeds are still the ones to beat come the play-offs, but I reckon we will be in the immediate pack behind them.
One things for sure, if you told me that you'd seen this in a crystal ball 5 yrs ago I would have laughed at you.

Success consists of getting up just one more time than you've fallen down.
