It really boggles me as to why the 3 main clubs up there (Barrow, Whitehaven and Workington) do not club together and push for a franchise. If they played their games at Carlisle footie stadium and got someone like Eddie Stobart(or a worldwide boilermaker which they are famous for) to sponsor/bankroll them then they would be nailed on for a franchise. I know merger is a sore subject for many clubs but each club on their own wouldnt make the cut for franchise. I am saying this on the back of Barrow beating Whitehaven, its a must that we have a team from Cumbria in super league.

what do you guys think????

its a complicated one, because they dont want to merge, theres a large distance between them and the biggest town up there (Carlisle) is the one that isn't into rugby!

it'd be best if they merged with the existing teams continuing to play in the lower levels, but i can't see it happening.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I as many others do want a club from Cumbria but I would not want any of those to merge.

I was only about 12/13 when it was suggested about Hull and Rovers but it reduced me to tears the sheer thought of it!

It was easy for Tim Wilby and others to say "its best for the game" but look at todays game, that rivalry has lit up the SL and it needs to be kept as should the cumbrian teams.

Didn't they say that about us and Hull when both of us weren't in the top division in our sport and they were about to restructure?

It may seem like a plan to us, but I'm sure the supporters of each individual team would want ot retain their own identity.

Hull has the population to support two teams though, there just isn't the same number of people in any of the cumbrian towns

Ask their true fans what a heartbreak it would be. I'd sooner be playing/watching NL rugby than merge. Maybe they think differently but I couldnt think of anything worse its like selling your soul
