On sports talk tonight Mike White, Smailes and the City bloke who doubles up as black and white declared that Hull FC need a proper scrum half, because it's something they haven't had since Danny Brough left. It was suggested that they should have kept James Webster, if only for this season, to then look at the likes of Matt Orford or Brett Kimmorley. It was then suggested that these two would cost a fair few quid though, and that Orford is demanding probably double what Berrigan is being paid, whatever that is. It's a bit strange that the Hull fans and board seemed to suggest at the time that Dobson wasn't worth the money that Rovers were paying him, again whatever that is, but it's got to be said that so far, he's worth every penny. Given the choice between having a class scrum half, and a pair who don't quite cut it in that position, I know that I would rather have a player who knows the position inside out, and as long as Hull try to save the pounds rather than have the complete player, then I'm afraid they are going to struggle. If they want the best, they are going to have to pay the going rate, as Rovers have in the case of Dobson. |

If they make the play-offs this season(which is likely due to extra place)then I can see them keeping hold of Thorman for next seasons campaign. |

He was poor with Hudds for the last 2/3 years and was never going to improve coming to FC, a player whose best years have passed I'm afraid. Thats what you get when you sign a full-back/off-half instead of an out and out srcum half which is desperately needed. |

I'm still waiting for Greg Mackey's replacement. About 18 years on. |

I agree we do need a scrum half & i think you will find all Hull fans do....but Thorman is not a poor player!!!! I believe we have signed a quality scrum half for next year hence only signing Thorman on for a year!!! |
