Sorry to be pedantic etc.. but when someone has been found guilty and not yet sentenced the matter is not "sub judice"

I am not criticising them I am pointing out that by locking the thread on Ben Cockayne they are 100% wrong. The trial is over a verdict has been reached so it cannot be "sub judice" Having said that, I can't see the thread being re-opened can you?

The admin have taken a view that the Sub Judice laws extend to sentencing/appeals etc. So correct in law or not, that's the way things work on here.

It's also worth noting that the decision wasn't made off the cuff. The relevant sections of the legislation were looked at and this was considered the safest course for the site to follow.

Unless anyone feels like stumping up in the event of any legal proceedings? :wink:
