Whilst it should be a given that he is better than JMs last seasons mind blowing first choice of Jake Webster (a decision many of the disciples thought was a good one at the time..???)., it will be interesting to see if in fact he is an improvement on Scott Murrell, who had an excellent second half of the season at stand off, verified by his England call up..Green is not exactly pacey himself so i am struggling to see (from limited games but enough to form an opinion), what extra he is bringing to the party that Scott doesnt have.., especially given the various factors of quota spot, length of tie-in, cost , and if it leaves Murrell as a spare part...., perhaps JM will utilise Green elsewhere than stand off..perhaps he is a possible for hooker/stand off/loose forward utility...hang on..?? isnt that Scott Murrells role...??
The signing just sort of puzzles me as we baulked at signing the world best stand off for a season that would probably have transformed the club and look to a bit part player to solves our supposed woes at half back.., when to me the reason we progressed no further is due to woes else where in the team..
And yes Mrs B , Rovers did do ok last year..much better than it looked at one stage , no qualms from me at all..., just trying to look past the spin and into reality...if we challenge for fourth i shall be a happy man..
I would have loved to see Lockyer at Rovers but long term success only comes with continuity and I believe the club have a strict policy when it comes to bringing in overseas players and that is 2yr deals with a 3rd year option.
Time will tell how Green works out...
