After Hudgells comments not so long back it did seem like he was setting up to leave in the near future. What his full reasons are will be known only to a select few if this story is true. He has done wonders for Rovers along with a fine coach who has gotten the best out of the players he has had. However with the club losing money hand over fist he may feel it is the right time to hand over to someone who can tighten the purse strings and improve areas that have been sadly lacking like the merchandising side.
The problem with having a passionate supporter as a chairman is it clouds their judgement and winning takes priority over everything else(not a terrible thing), this is fine if the chairman is multi millionaire etc who can bankroll a team. But with the spiralling debt it would be a good time to bring someone else in.

Cant see him going anywhere in a hurry, only fuel his desire more if we are led to beleive the dull supporters hype regarding how succsessful they are going to be after clucthing to our tail coats for the last 3 years

3 years?
I could've sworn we finished the 2007 season in 4th place, were you higher than that?

3years? 2007 I sure Hull FC were 4th and you guys were 11th? the year earlier we were at OT for the grand final, a couple of poor years on the pitch and 5 years + of excellent work off the pitch should prove a great advantage in the future.
I think this post sums up a lot of the red and white attitude and a major problem at HKR from the top down. The is a large red streak of jealousy going through the heart of the club just like the banner on this page.
No medium or long term planning, pay players as much as it takes to get them at the club and worry about finances later. On the day Hull release their accounts posting another profit for another year, your chairman is quoted saying he is ready to hand over.

Does Hudgell take a salary? I'd guess not. Could be more costs to land in Rovers profit and loss account if you have to pay a Chief Exec.
Think it would be a good thing personally. Hudgell's time is split too many ways at the moment and it's showing in the very poor retail operation, rubbish communication about what's happening with Clinton, and disjointed implementation of Club Rovers (where he admitted people don't really understand what it is) just a few examples. He's spent big on the squad, which is important, but prioritising investment in turnstiles (which still need to be manned) when the shop's half empty in the run-up to Xmas is just evidence that the eye is (understandably) off the ball IMO.

Personally I think the club are handling it correctly, say nothing until they have something to say and not,
'hurray, we've signed him, buy your shirts with his name on, we've given him his squad number, all is rosey'
then
'oops, sorry, he cannot get a visa'
'when my life is over, the thing which will have given me greatest pride is that I was first to plunge into the sea, swimming freely underwater without any connection to the terrestrial world'
