Addy becoming the new Drinkwater? Not his fault he's been mostly played at hooker since returning from serious injury. He is in danger of becoming a Washbrook/G Horne type and his ability to cover pretty much any position can hinder a player sometimes. Think better will be seen with him if we ever get a settled side and he gets a run in the back row. Is he contracted next season? If I was going to single any players out for negatives from yesterday it would be Keinhorst and his Tig style tackling and up until his heroics McGuire was having a bit of a stinker. Who cares? We won in thrilling fashion.

Most of the points were conceded whilst Addy was on the pitch.

His missed tackles lead directly to 2 tries (defense was the one thing I thought he was good at). His inept passing lead to a third. He is the slowest to get back in the line when defending and made virtually no metres with ball in hand.

Drinkwater has improved as the season has progressed, especially under a proper coach. Addy had one good game this season in the opening game.

Yes, Addy is no hooker or HB but his loose pass shows he thinks he is. He's also struggling to be an effective forward.

We won but lets not shy away from what we still need to improve.

You may not like it but the cheer from the East Stand when he was taken off was very telling - and shows I'm not alone in seeing all this. Sad but true.

Tomkins is no Captain either.

Addy never settled in a regular position when he was with us yet played everywhere bar wing or fullback. He’s made a career of being able to do a job filling in and not done bad at it. He’s never going to excel in any position but can occasionally do something good. He’s also capable of being infuriatingly bad at times. IMO he’s not SL quality.

Agreed. In the championship he'd do a fair bit better.

If we were going to judge our players on missed tackles then none of them would be ever picked again. I heard the cheer and he was definetly having a bad game and the coach giving him the shepherds crook was as much to protect him as the game We all pay our brass and can boo or cheer as see fit within reason. I don't see him in next year's 17 if all fit or even this year's but he puts on that shirt and represents the club to best of his ability. Maybe a change of scenery may help him like Abdull has done? I have more concern over Mulhern and JK tbh

Exactly what many said/say of Abdull. I never thought he would shine in halfs in SL like he has at London. Is Addy a half? Is he a 2nd row or 13? He certainty shone for Scotland in WC before his big injury. Still time for Addy to step up but will be hard with us after yesterday Every mistake he makes now will be magnified and of course the harder he trys the worse it will get. Im not saying he's a superstar but he is a steady enough type

Played 25 games for Wakefield in amongst an array of loans and dual reg spells. He’s had spells with Sheffield and Dewsbury since then. Second chance for him to give it a go in a full-time environment, and for us to look at him maybe. Another option in the middle wouldn’t do any harm.

There might be a bit of squad thickening with that in mind. And for us, we might prioritise depth more next year, as we continue to seek the best balance in the use of our resources.

The top age group is going to be 18s rather than 19s next year, so I think the Reserves league will look a lot like the system we had about 10 or 12 years ago, rather than that of 30 or 40 years ago. i.e. mostly young players on very modest contracts. I don’t think seasoned semi-pro players will be leaving Championship clubs mainly to play for reserve teams. I think that would be mostly destined to end like Danny Langtree’s spell at Hull FC.

If Trout does join us, I think it’d be to help us avoid the drop this year. We were down to 3 props against Cas again. Anything beyond that would depend on him looking like he could be at least competing for a spot in the first 17. I think that is true for anybody about 23 years old or above.

Addy was good in our year in the Championship.

Totally agree with you, he's an average championship utility player at best and not SL standard IMO. he's a poor mans Ben Cockayne.

Trout to the end of the season confirmed.

One of those that is easier to be more optimistic about after a GP win than if we’d lost. Welcome and good luck to him.

Looks like a running 13 from his 2019 highlights. Mobile, energetic but with a bit of oomph. Obviously that is the Championship and you’re only see the good bits.
