Still don't get it. Are we saying KR didn't have ANY young player who could have done what Charnley did tonight? If that is the case, what does that say about the state of coaching and scouting for the 18s and 20s? The whole idea of the 3 year franchise was, amongst other things, to allow clubs to develop THEIR OWN YOUNGSTERS, (not others). If you are a good local player aged 15/16 and get offers from KR, Castleford, Wakefield etc. what are you going to think, "if I go for KR, I might get near the 1st team squad, that is until they see a another 'super league' ready player somewhere else!" I think previous blogs about making the numbers up for the 8 home grown player rules is spot on for Frankie Mariano etc. Short term wins are fine. but JM and his coaching staff won't be here in 5 years time. Other clubs seem to be always announcing 3,4 or 5 17 or 18 year olds signing for the 1st team squad and training full time each year, when did that last happen? KR in danger of being a feeder club for the likes of Wigan, just as Hull are for Leeds. The next franchise app will look at how good the recruitment has been over the last 3 years, and, having to 'hire in' other academy players can't be good.

Erm.....
Welham, Watts, Latus, Taylor, Hodgson all count from our homegrown and all playing a part this season. How many do you want us to bring through before we get any recognition.
"They supercede individuals, they supercede the team and they supercede the club. Our club is a traditional, working class club and the supporters are loyal and passionate and to see them go away happy really makes my day." Craig Sandercock.

Did OK for a debut, with little time to get used to the team, but there's a lot more to come from him yet - he was fairly poor by his own standards, but a lot of that comes from not quite "gelling" with Fox. That will come, with time, though. Also, he's played most of his recent career on the wing rather than centre.
Congrats on the win, BTW, and glad he played a part in it!
There is no point having a first team squad if you don't use it.
AFAIK, ALL super league clubs, at various stages of their progression, have taken loan players. It's part and parcel of the game with benefits to BOTH parties. In important games its vital to have players the coach can be confident of doing the job, he obviously sees them day in and day out and is in a better position than all of us to make the call.
Think he more than made a good loan signing with Charnley.
Standing up to the forum bully.
It must be working, he doesn't like me...i'm devastated
