I dont know the answers to your questions, maybe he had to go to accomodate Clinton, with Fisher and Mills not wanting to move on apparently. Maybe he was unsettling the squad, I thought it was going to be a loan deal, but then we hear hes been released and joined them on a short term deal. takes a good sum off the salary cap too.
