They have dispensation for theirs regarding time of arrival etc, as do you, as do we. It's the fact that now all you have to do is get a passport from basically anywhere but Oz and NZ and you're fed trained. Surely you can see the damage this could potentially do?
because I for one don't believe this has set us back as a sport as you put it, superleague is an exciting league and rugby league in general is one of the best spectacles to go and watch in this country including the championship, in part due to the exciting youngsters that come through the system (and they are still coming through) aided by more advanced or crowd pulling overseas stars.
Now if you're talking about the shambles that is the international game I'd agree with you there but is it down to overseas players? I've been going to watch england/GB since the late 70's for my sins including a trip to Oz for tony smith's world cup debacle and honestly don't think its down to overseas players here, I remember watching the aussie invicibles on a proper tour back in 82 beating every team in the league more or less all of which had less than a handful of overseas players between them, and we haven't won more than 1 game in a series against the aussies in all those years since.
if you want a debate about what we need to do to improve the internatinal game I'll happily start a new thread on the VT, but I suspect you're more interested in sticking to this thread to put the boot in to rovers for doing the same thing as as a number of other clubs
