Well, if I could tear you away from your assumptions regarding Mrs. B. What makes you believe he'd be on a fair bit less? I wouldn't think you'd get him on much less than £50-60k if you signed him on a full-time deal. Next option is 'Pay As You Play' which is a lot more far-fetched IMO. Why would Senior at his age and with his, presumably nice retirement fund, want to travel to Hull to train 4 days a week without the promise of a game? Also, how much would he get per game? I'd say £3-4k as a guesstimate, any less and again, he wouldn't see any benefit. Also, how much are you willing to put away 'just in case'? Webster averages 6 or 7 games out a year, so maybe 10? What if Webster and Welham stay fit? £40k unspent just in case seems a lot to me. Maybe the RFL will accept semi-variable cost contracts? What happens if Welham/Webster get season ending injuries early on? Do you then just pick & choose the games Senior plays in so you don't break the cap?
Also, with this rumour and Hall getting the 2 shirt does it spell the end for him as a centre?
Pay as you play would be baffling, which is why I think it's a non-story and I think Keiths holding out for more money on a 1 year deal personally.
So far we only have the HDM story and we are talking about that, have you heard different?

Apparently, it is Keith Senior who has been touting SL clubs with pay-as-you-play terms. His agreement with the Rhinos consists of proving his fitness at which point a more concrete contract will be drawn up. In the meantime he is allowed to talk to other clubs. Apart from Rovers, Senior is in talks with Widnes.

i can't see him touting for a pay as you play deal, surely it would make sense for him to at least demand a wage, even if relatively small, with possibly reasonably hefty appearance fees. At least then if he doesn't play for a month he still gets a couple of £ in the bank?

Why would I know any different? I was asking questions about how any possible play as you play deal would work, seems my first mistake was asking you. Nevermind.

I'd have thought so too. Makes more sense for him - no pro wants to train, not play and not get paid. And whatever club he plays for, in terms of managing the cap. When these sort of deals have been mentioned in the past on other boards, I've always assumed you'd have to leave the full cap space potentially required free - at the start of the season at least.
Our experienced cover for 2nd row and centre is okay, without being massive or brilliant, so he might be worth a punt. It would be a gamble, but if it is even 'pay as you play lite', that mitigates some of the risk. We lost Fox, Briscoe, Cockayne and Colbon and only have Hodgson and McDonnell as replacements. Maybe Horne too, if he is seen mainly as a centre. Worth considering, at least.

I think salter is a centre, need to start putting faith in the youth, not entertaining 35 year old war horses. he had his day and should retire or join cookey at donny.

Been following the game long?
Maybe it lacked a smiley, but read it again.
Tongue in cheek squire, regarding T Martin and that lot.
Can Senior be a coach after his RL career has ended? Pretty sure he said he wanted a go at Leeds Tykes for a bit, a bit meaning a 4/5 year contract, as he'd probably still rip it up playing Union.
