You may be right in your assesment of him and his overall form to date but i believe he he will improve a great deal on harder grounds, and to be fair he has been left a little exposed at times in recent games.

Assuming we're still talking Shannon and not BB lists functions - yeh, I hope you're right. Time will tell. Some have written him off already.
As Dumz says - We've gone from somone who stopped tries as opposed to someone who can score tries. Let's hope Shannon scores plenty

you're not wrong there but it's not all the backs, we seem to produce centres we've got salter and heil coming through who look very promising, struggle for wingers though and half backs like everbody else!

Indeed. you have your half backs pretty sorted though. I am so pleased with the Ellis signing, but I cannot help thinking we had other positions to sort before that. See what happens I suppose.

yes, what I meant was we struggle to develop our own halfbacks pretty much like a lot of clubs, we haven't had a local one go on to be a regular since wayne parker imho

From the list of ooc players you provided.
McDonnell - He's improving, but a 1yr deal, suggests we're open to other options next season
Hall - new deal, no brainer
Webster, in terms of the quota – you’re right, we may as well offer him a new deal – reduced terms, if he’s on particularly high wage.
Wheeldon - I’d like to see us keep him, he’s often been on the fringes and apparently surplus for a while. He’s chose to stay here, I like that loyalty. He doesn’t let us down.
Clinton – Suppose it depends on if he wants to stay or not, but you’d imagine he’s returning home. So
Watts – hasn’t been on top form, but he’s young and obviously highly rated. Keep if possible
Murrell – unless we could find another larker who fits in like he does, then it’s another no brainer, keep.
Lovegrove – keep.
Galea – If he’s got another season in him then, keep. If not then let’s put a nice contract Manu’s way.
We need to look at other back-up wing options. Latus isn't the answer.
Its far too early to think 2013, much prefer to wait and see how the squad fares when we get everyone fit and healthy and a few games under their belts.

None the less, I bet the club/management will be looking at it with an open mind to next season. ... and it's never too early for us fans to talk frep about team affairs. Pugwash will soon be telling us who we're signing in 2014, never mind 2013.

If i remember correctly, McDonnell was innitialy offered a longer contract but refused it on the basis that he wanted to see how his first season turned out before commiting further.
