* However, in a statement, the RFL said it was Dobson's contract which had been 'terminated', and when the Mail called to clarify matters, an RFL spokeswoman stressed the wording in their statement had been correct, and that Dobson was now classed as a 'free agent'. *
* In the RFL official guide, rule C1:4:6 of the game says: "An overseas player who is removed from a club register during the season cannot then be placed back on that club's register in that same season save with permission of the board."
When asked if Rovers already had such permission, the spokeswoman said they did not. *

So if he leaves it would be his choice and we wouldn't need to pay off his contract as Drooly Chops was worrying about on our behalf. For what it's worth I have no worries it will pan out as our board have planned, given previous track records etc. please don't lose anymore sleep over it.

What a stupid move by your board, just to get a player over a little earlier, it would totally serve them right if you lost Dobson or he wasn't allowed to play for you again until next season.

He's already left, by mutual agreement I would imagine, and I don't expect any payments will be due.

The plan went out the window when the other clubs got wind of it. This is a hastily pulled together alternative. Could still work out OK providing that the RFL board grant special dispensation for Dobson to re-register though.
Hold on to me baby, his bony hands will do you no harm It said in the cards, we lost our souls to the Nameless One
I just hope our board have judged this right, If I was a Saint Helens director I would be on the phone to him now as it would solve thier half back problem? What I dont feel is right is the RFL disscussing Rovers operations with the Mail. All that this is going to do is make rovers look stupid in the eyes of the sporting world.

Don't worry yourself, there are many things I may be losing sleep over and Rovers is definately not one of them.
I will say that if (yes, IF) Rovers lose Dobson to another club for the sake of the Willie Mason signing then they are bonkers. Surely they should have only taken this route if the special dispensation was granted for them to resign Dobson before they went ahead and ended his contract. If Masons Tongan Visa is all but here then surely waiting for that to come through before getting him here makes more sense than risking the loss of one of your influential players?

If he is worse than we think then no other club will want him this season.

And exactly why do you consider Rovers are entitled to have such matters kept secret?

Because we'd rather have closed all the loop holes in our cheating before going public.
If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.
