I agree with most of that but what worries me is that clubs are still signing very average overseas players and in some cases 'projects', which beggers belief. Top class overseas players can aid player development of that there is no doubt but all the time clubs fill their quotas with players who basically cannot get a club in aussie, British player development will suffer.
Also with the more rigorous enforcement of tax rules top class overseas players are less likely to come unless our clubs pay them more money, something else that could adversely impact on British player development.
