We decided to go with food we have all eaten and enjoyed, and the obvious choice for a group of footy fans was the food we love at footy games.
Your fine dining experience today will be delivered by one of Newcastle's premier establishments, Kenny's Pie Shop, situated in the prime commercial location of Turton Road, Broadmeadow, opposite Ausgrid Stadium, home of the Newcastle Knights. As you sit in the spacious Al Fresco dining area of Kenny's, you will enjoy magnificent views of the Ausgrid carpark and the rear of the future (hopefully) 'Danny Buderus' stand. Kenny's is also a recognised celebrity 'hang-out,' with NRL stars Josh Perry, Danny Wicks, Owen Craigie and many others being valued customers in years past.

Entree - The legendary Australian Sausage Roll - As made famous in the AC/DC ballad 'It's a long way to the shop if you want a sausage roll'. This dish may also be suitable for Vegetarians, as it's doubtful that any actual meat is contained in this product, although trace amounts may be detected.
Main - Meat Pie - The traditional Australian fast food. Also known as a 'Dog's Eye,' 'Mystery Bag' or 'Maggot Sack,' this dish is considered to be compulsory eating for attendees of sporting events. Kenny's offer a wide range of pie varieties, and for this gourmet challenge the variety selected was the exotic and delicious 'Sweet Chilli Chicken,' narrowly favoured over 'Mushy Peas and Potato.'
Dessert - Vanilla Slice - The favourite 'cake' throughout Australia. Two layers of french pastry filled with baked vanilla custard and topped with fluffy pink icing and a sprinkle of coconut. Known to millions of children all over Australia as a 'Snot Block,' this treat has inspired festivals and bakeoffs from Victoria to Queensland, but few finer examples can be found than the Kenny's Pie Shop 'Snotty.'
Now to the main element of our fine repast, Beer. After furious debate we have reached a compromise, Toohey's Hunter Old, the black beer traditionally consumed by coal miners and Rugby League players and produced in Newcastle. This beer famously contains a steak in every glassfull (we don't know what that means either).
Postscript - 9 out of 10 of your humble reviewers reccommend the snot block be thrown in the bin and you have another beer instead.
