What?
We're not going to play him at loose are we?
Have you been feeding him up again with your special milk?
If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

Bit of a strange reason when you consider his main opponent for the position hasn't returned to training yet.

It's a squad number and as already seen players are wearing theirs even when Craig Sandercock is swapping and changing them.
Move with the times guys squad numbers are not always positions.
In saying this loose might suit him. More central for defending, an 80min player that makes good yardage, not had chance to show it much but he's got pretty good passing skills. I suppose it depends what you want from a loose man really. A 3rd prop or a ball handling extra half back. If we're going with the thoughts of Watts playing at loose then there is not much difference between the two. Just think Watts suits prop a bit more but then that will be decided in pre-season I suppose.

I wonder if Paea getting Mason's number is meant to be significant.
Mason has only managed one competitive appearance for Toulon, a defeat at Montpellier, as far as I can discover from their website. Nice work if you can get it!

Thought Rhys would have gotten a single number to save money in the club shop. Great value, 9 letters and 2 numbers. I also like how his name arcs across the top.

I don't know how much importance Sanders has given to the allocation of shirt numbers, but from a sponsorship and supporters point of view the numbers 1-17 tend to be viewed with significance. Lovegrove (13) and Nethers (16) has surprised me. I actually appreciate the irony of the allocation of 20 & 23. I hope to see 24, 29 & 33 make big break throughs
