It's got to be local players being blooded and founded that is is the catalyst to sustained success.
I'd say looking at St Helens team against Bradford in 96' Challenge Cup Final which I watched the other day on ESPN, in which youngsters by the names of Bobbie Goulding, Cunningham, and a certain Steve Prescott were blooded as a template in how they're still at the top even today. Add Martyn, Long, Sculthorpe in, they didn't rely on overseas players for the spine of their team.
Although Watts hasn't hit the heights of last season, he is still a find, and Welham has been playing brilliantly as of late, this is the way to go.
Looking forward to Beaumont's debut, playing youngsters in this tricky period will hopefully be the light and turn this awful start into something positive.
