For the avoidance of doubt, Roverswall, this is not a bitchathon. Just a polite enquiry about Saints HBs. My assessment above of the relative merits of both teams is sensible, balanced and non-inflammatory. Thanks.
You are clearly either forgeting or just ignoring that most if not all saints fans state that Lomax is the way forward for them in the halves and having seen it myself I can't say they are wrong. They have Eastmond and Lomax available last time I checked.

I actually get confused by their dizzying array of youngsters. Just looked at their squad to get my bearings - All-Star 1st team and then loads of talented 'kids'.

Jonny Lomax and Gary Wheeler are to blame. And Lee Gaskell and Jamie Foster. Made my head spin, innit? And Shaun Briscoe's off to Widnes next year - 'apparently'!
Mrs Barista wrote:Is that the noise that Ivor the Engine made? Saints are in better form, that's true. Rovers looked closer to clicking last week than they allegedly did the one before. Maybe that's a trend.
Yep - when he broke down and the fat controller had to get a man in overalls to sort it.

Eastmond is not in the squad, and as an international you'd have to assume with Pryce out injured that his inability to get a place in the 17 is more due to hacking off their fans than lack of competence on the field. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_l ... 439008.stm In terms of first grade experience, Murrell and Green have it by a mile over Gaskell and Lomax. Saints have IMO the better pack. Rovers arguably the better back line. So it should be an entertaining game.

I love Saints. Vastly entertaining rugby, get an injury and just promote a youngster in the correct position, with an array of old hands to protect them. Great stuff.

Worst nose in SL. You need to line up a replacement.

The Fat Controller was in Thomas the Tank Engine, nor Ivor the Engine - you're either very drunk or not the real MR. I'm concerned for his safety now.

Kyle will not be playing in the first team this Friday. That's been confirmed by Saints. He will be playing in the u20s where, it would appear, he is playing as poorly as he played in the first team. So he shouldn't really trouble your u20s.
Lee Gaskell and Jonny Lomax will be our halfback partnership again, as they were against Leeds and against Bradford. Our injuries presently include (but are not exclusive to): Wilkin, Meli, Pryce and Clough.
Looking forward to seeing you at our temporary establishment in Widnes.
Please make sure you bring your winter clothing with you. There is a mysterious wind that seems to blow at the stadium no matter what the weather elsewhere in the world and it can chill you to the bone.
Oh, and if you are inclined to drink a coffee or a tea at halftime, make sure you bring gloves. Hot drinks in thin plastic cups become impossible to hold after about five seconds!

Strange I could have sworn I saw him in their squad but anyway As for experience well if you are better you are better experience won't change that. Murrell may have experience but he isn't a 7. I know that and I have no doubt YOU know that but you are being your usual self and are dealing in double talk.

I'm not really sure what your point is. I've already said Saints have the better pack on paper and the game is won in the forwards generally. Your HB combination sees your first choice 6 and a very experienced LF/SO whereas Saints are fielding neither of Pryce or Eastmond. It's a big call to say Gaskell is a better player than Murrell IMO. Back lines look reasonably well matched but Saints on balance are favourites in what should be a good game. No need to get huffy and use capitals. I think I've been pretty balanced tbh.
