I don't see how the team we'd have would be any better than what either of us have currently got. We'd still only be able to spend up to the cap, and the one selling point of Hull in RL terms is the intensity of the derbies.
Take FC for instance, they are profitable (only one of 2 clubs in RL that are) they get the 2nd best average attendance in the league and play in a sparkley new stadium, Working on your predictions this should make them unbeatable yet they're still sh111te.
All the merger would have meant was we'd be an even more profitable sh111te side and hence a bigger disappointment.

A merged Hull side would have pulled in less than FC do now IMO. Its because of the rivalry that has intensified in the last 3 years that crowds have gone up. A 1 team city would not have the same passion.
The only benefit would be Jr development, as the pool of players is currently shared amongst 2 clubs.

Both sets of fans travel in huge numbers so our combined away support would have been amazing. The home crowds would have been close to 20k every week. We reckoned that we would be one of the best sides in the league. Yes there would have been some initial fall out with the fan but a few years down the line that would have died out imo.
Anyway it never happened but it was an interesting discussion nevertheless.
Wonder how many would just turn their backs on RL if this had happeneed. I said at the time I would not support a merged side and would probably stick to watching Dockers or East Hull. Still feel the same TBH.

Speaking as a long time supporter i am extremely pleased at the progress Rovers have made in the last few years.....and as for the poster who reckoned 70% were newbies, i would think all clubs who have either gained promotion to Super League or moved to new stadiums fall into the same cateogary.
Standing up to the forum bully.

I think a merged team would easily attract 10-12000 fans pretty much every week. There are plenty of rugby fans out there who don't subscribe to the tribalistic rivallry that many supporters of both clubs currently do.
Long term one club in the Elite division is the aim imho, thats if the game hasn't gone bust by then.
