I wonder if they would have taken the same stance had it been their top SL player, its an easy decision to make with a reserve player who has not been featuring anyhow.
FC never gotshut ofRaynor and I doubt saints will sack Pryce or Warrington Reardon.
While it looks good in the press, its an easy decision to take with such a player, plus don't forget, Cas were chasing Cockayne before he signed his contract AND they must have known about this case at the time as it was not only in the press, but happened in their own backyard as well as involving one of their own players.

Why should we, suspend him or fine him by all means, but sack him and another club will sign him up.

I am no lawyer, but I would imagine that any punishment dished out by the RFL would have to be for a certain offence ie: bringing the game into disrepute, I doubt they could start to deliberate the offence and sentence as the courts have already done this. If they choose to go down this road and start to dish out a second punishment based on the severity of the offence they could end up on dodgy ground.
In the forces we had something called concequencial punishment, which meant the Navy could punish us again if we ended up in civvy court, but it did not depend on the severity of the offence you were convicted of, you could have got drunk or murdered someone, if the courts released you the most you got was loss of one days pay and a day added to your length of service.
If they take the stance to de-register Cockayne, they inevitable will have to de-register Pryce andReardon once sentenced.

nobody in their right mind can codone what he has done. If no punishemnet is given by rovers/rfl then it is showing that they arn't too bothered. I'm not just saying it because he is a rovers player i think it should be the same for anyone who behaves in that way regardless of the shirt that they wear.

I agree, but it has to be measured and used fairly, not selectively.
