A bit of pressure on Rovers for next season, experienced coach and some big signings, so big season for Smith as he has under achieved so far, got to be looking nearer the top than bottom with the money spent on players.

Money spent on players?

Rovers will be well below the cap and one of the lowest spending teams. Money has been spent wisely though and I expect us to improve.

You will have spent more on players, look at your out goings and players coming in.

I said you should aiming for at least 8th

You will be spending more than Wakey, Leigh, Salford and about the same as Cas, which places you about 8th.

You have finished 11th, so 8th/9th would be an improvement, anything less would be a disappointment.

Not sure what I said was wrong?

Ok despite advice to the contrary I'll presume Dave K. is here with genuine opinions rather than to cause mischief.

5 big earners were on the payroll in 2020 who will not be in 2021. Mose Masoe (removed from the cap but still paid in full), Mitch Garbutt, Weller Hauraki, Robbie Mulhern, Nathaniel Peteru..

We've signed (by our standards) 4 big earners, Ryan Hall, Albert Vete, Korbin Sims and Brad Takairangi.. So there's a decent saving there with 4 big earners instead of 5.

Our other 2 signings, Mustapha and Johnson are low earners and we've lost Harvey Livett, Dan Murray, Kyle Trout, Ryan Brierley, Jamie Ellis, Matty Gee, Will Oakes and Adam Rooks.

Clearly Rovers will be spending less than in 2020 and we were already below the cap but IMO spending more wisely. Paul Lakin has set a modest target of simply improving year on year I think we have a good chance of achieving that.

David, I'm afraid you have looked at the quality we have brought in and thought we have d done well...

It's a simple case of Mathematics.

Garbut- well over paid.
Masoe- Very unfortunately had his career stopped however was on very good salary.
Mulhern- was on wages you pay an international

Plus the other 8 or so that have left us will equal a total net of Zero. We are nowhere near the cap (which must scare many teams) as we have recruited wisely and haven't paid an off half who has played 10 games in 20 years 190k a season.

You will be a few quid short in the cap when Cator is Man of Steel/Lance Todd and Harry Sunderland winner.

It's not a simple case of mathematics unless you know the exact numbers, which none of you do including me, so it's opinion based

Of the 5 big earners one wasnt on the cap and another played half a season.

In my opinion you will be spending more this year than last, the likes of Sims, Hall and BT will on miles more than Garbutt erc as they are established NRL players not reserve NRL players like the ones named. You have rightly gone for quality over quantity, but you have paid for it adding more pressure on Smith, who cant afford to fail this year.

Merry Christmas to you all.

Merry Christmas to you too, however Hull KR will be under the cap by at least 150k.Now Hudgell has pulled back where is the money coming from?
Like you I am very surprised about the quality we have brought in (compared to 2020 signings)
One suggestion could be that the 4 oversees plus Halls contracts could be backloaded, so year 1's salary is relatively small, but years 2 and 3 could be significantly more. This could be due to the fact we have secured some major investment. I hope in wrong on this as it could be dangerous if investment isn't sought. AKA Salford 2014.

Anyways, Josh Jones- Happy or not what's your take?

Disappointed, more in Jones, good player, but we didnt see it from him.Happy with the quality of our backrow, but lacks depth.

Gives Hull alot of cap to play with, not sure we will use it, think both Hull clubs will e a bit under the cap, sign of the times, dont blame either clubs for not spending the max.
