Hope he goes well, a much needed addition

Fail to see why he is 'needed'. I'm with nickhkr on this one. Frankie Mariano is already at the club, on the payroll and has been training with the first team for a year and a half yet he hasn't had a look in.

Very poor on Morgans part imho.

Ahhh...the old 'oh he's big he should be in the forwards' line. He is not unfamilier with centre and has played enough there to do a job for the club. He is quick and big and could just cause Leeds a few problems with the ball given the chance. I guess had Greg Inglis have come through the ranks at Rovers he'd be playing prop now

The only people to benefit from this loan deal are the player and Wigan. Do you seriously think a player with no first team experience at all will make such a huge difference to Rovers?? Whats more he goes straight into the team without a training session under his belt. Crazy!!!!

I think that the top and bottom of it is that Morgan doesnt think that Frankie can do a job in the centres at Super League level. This will be why he has been moved into the backrow in the reserves. Nothing to do with his size. I dont think it bodes well for him either that Scott Taylor has by-passed him in that role aswell.
Our 2 centres in the reserves are currently Liam Salter and Josh Wilson. Neither are ready for first team action.
FWIW i would have stuck with our current squad if nobody with first team experience was available on loan and just shuffled things about a bit, perhaps even with Frankie getting a go in the back-row.
The fact that this kid has been rushed in this week probably means that Briscoe will still be missing and Cockayne is staying at full back.

I must admit I'm struggling with this one, a lad with no 1st team experience being thrown straight into the team and coming against senior who has more experience of how to unsettle a new player than anyone in SL. We might just as well have thrown Mariano into the mix, moved Cook into centre etc.. still think this more than anything tells me we wont see Briscoe running out on Friday or next Thursday. Colbon may still be a bit off as well.

Nothing against the lad from Wigan, but i struggle to see why Mariano wont be given a chance... Im with Nick & Mr Gekko on this.

Although i too cannot really see the need for this move, it must be said that although Frankie is a good lad and everything, anybody watching twenty minutes of him would see that he is miles off SL centre (or any other position) level..his appearance against Sheffield in the cup confirmed that..,i would respectfully suggest he would probably struggle to make it at Championship level at centre, he could be a forward at that level perhaps..

With some major games coming up i totally understand JMs reluctance to use him and would be very suprised if he was at the club next year, both from his own and the clubs point of view..

Saying that , when Colbon returns next week we have enough bodies of our own to cover the situation..Him, Cook and Lovegrove can all play centre if need be..

Personaly think Gordon Gekko has never seen Charnely play.
We will soon see if a difference is made.
