Lower league position, smaller crowds and losing more money?

This time next week we can see wether Long still thinks FC have got their swagger back ( see today's HDM ) and a few weeks later see if he still relished the forthcoming derby at the KC.

Only a year ago most of your ot were telling us that league positions were meaningless unless we won a play off game so this year winning a play off game would still be progress.

I agree...but you will have to improve your present performance to be in the play-offs

I don't know we would, I think we're playing as well if not better than all the teams below us (cue a battering by quins on Sunday ) and have up til now played really well against those teams (Wakey aside). So if we beat these in the run in (50% win rate) we should be pretty much nailled on for a 8th spot. IF we could manage to turn up against a team above us we may do better. Lots of Ifs and Buts but on paper we should get in.

I agree we would then have to put in a performance in teh play off game to even have a sniff of winning it but funny things happen in sport, hitting some form at the right time of year is what will really tell.

James Smailes recently wrote a piece in the Mail stating that the FC players "privately" had their sights set on 2nd place. This piece has not appeard on line, but I defintely read it and had a wry smile on my face.

Charlie Mullen has wrote similar stuff regarding signings etc and ended up looking an even bigger bell end when it turned out he was wrong.

I would be amazed if the Hull dressing room was not buzzing at them minute and every single team in the World have goals, many of which will be set as the season progresses. Surely the Hull boys are now thinking 2nd is possible?

Big difference having some private thoughts and chats to plastering it all over the local media.

Thats how league tables work, think its a good systems and could catch on.
