Under Morgan, Rovers have improved year on year, until this year which doesn't actually finish until September or (not that we'll be involved) October.
This year we've already beaten St. Helens, Warrington and Leeds. We've also seen some awful performances.
As a coach you can only work with the players you've got, fair enough, they're Morgans players so he has to take the blame. However, we all know that getting players to come to Hull as a city is often a pretty tough ask and no doubt we've paid over the odds for some of ours, we're also a yet to be fully established in Super League mid table side so if one of the bigger clubs come in for a player we're in for we're going to have to out bid them.
The best clubs have stability from years of being in this division and are able to only have to change three or four players in the off season as well as bringing through their own youth. We've had, until this last off season a huge turnover of players, they're not all going to turn out to be the signings you expect in terms of quality and working within the group.
Given that Morgan will have long term ambitions to coach in the NRL he would be mental not to go to Saints to work with arguably the most talented group of up and coming players in Super League, at Super Leagues most successful club, in a brand new stadium.
Frankly, the way the fans are moaning on because we're in a bad run you couldn't blame him for going. Hardly grateful and supportive for everyone to get on his back when we hit our first real hurdle following almost four years of progress at a club that's been in the doldrums for twenty odd years is it?
I absolutely aggree, some people realy have short memories and you can bet your last pound that these same people who are full of critisicism for Morgan will be the same people who will be saying he's the best thing since sliced bread should he turn things around which i believe he will. Dont get me wrong, i do think he has made some bad descisions but as long he learns from them and lowers his ego a little, then i think he and the club will be the better for it in the long run. As for those who think James webster would be the answer, i say get real, he may have had a good run with the team when in NL1 but coaching a super league team is a totaly different proposition and would make little or no diifference to the current situation we find ourselves in at the present time. Look at Wigan last year, they had a nightmare run, their fans were calling for the coaches head untill he turned things around and ended up as grand final contenders, the same applies to Leeds this season, who would have thought they would be in the position they currently find themselves in. At the end of the day it's where we end up at the end of the season that matters and i for one believe there will be a few twists and turns before then.

Just thinking about current SL coaches and a couple of things struck me: Firstly, there might be a lot of movement this off season. Potter confirmed to be going, Brown maybe too. McNamara becoming England coach full time. Fans agitating for changes at Hull, Cas, Catalans (?) and until recently Quins. Who is going to fill the gaps? A SL return for Ellery Hanley? Iestyn Harris? A new batch of Aussie wrestling coaches? Secondly, fully half the current SL coaches have names beginning with 'M'. Proof that something can be amazing and boring at the same time.

hanley could end up with a job, alot of the nrl club coaches are on long deals so I wouldn't expect any big names to come over.
Ex players like johns, Daley, adamson and webke and current ones like kimmorley would be options to start their coaching careers in uk but they all have big tv presenting deals and in some cases lesser coaching jobs.
The exchange rate and quota is stopping sl signing the top Aussies before their ready for retirment, the exchange rate is going to affect the coaches as well.
We better start producing our own, how long have we been saying that?

The Rugby Football League are in the process of reviewing the video that you are referring to. We do not condone behaviour of this nature and have contacted the player’s employer, Hull F.C., who have confirmed that they are dealing with the incident under their club rules.

Good post. A few bad results does not suddenly mean Morgan has become a bad coach.
One of the problems I think he does have is taking risks with selection that are so wacky they are almost always going to back fire. For example:
1. Playing the 5 foot 10 inch Ben Galea (second row) instead of the 6 foot 5 inch (Stand off) Cooke at stand off at Huddersifeld last year because he was going for for "size".
2. Playing Jake Webster a centre or wing at stand off.
3. Preferring a winger (Fitzy) to a hooker (Fish) at hooker. While Fitz played ok for the last few games of the season at hooker he spent most of the time learning the position in games.
4. Preferring a stand off/loose man at hooker (Murrell) to a hooker (Fish) at hooker.
5. Deciding that every attacking play or kick goes through Dobson. This makes it far too easy to defend. Last year we had Dobson, Murrell, Cooke and Fish who could all put in good kicks in open play. Now we have Dobson. It's a no brainer for the defence.
Last year we had the SL dream team second row pairing in Galea and Newton, this year that partnership has been broken up, why? Last year we had the England wing Peter Fox playing on the left wing this year he's been moved to the right and has been mostly ineffectual. I know Morgan said it's because for England he plays on the right wing but that doesn't help Rovers and on these performances he's not going to get selected for England again.
We seem to go for the safe percentage play in games yet the team is composed of the most risky choices possible, this seems somewhat of a contradiction.

Well the Northern Rail Cup final was against Castleford. You'll have to go back and check the other results for yourself since I'm not your personal statistician.
