| Quote Mrs Barista="Mrs Barista"Fully agree. Catalans has been great IMO - competitive team, strong local interest and support, but if London and Celtic were replaced by Widnes and Halifax can't say I'd be bothered. Wonder how much money's been spent trying to get London going over 30 years for what - gates of 3k? Time to stop throwing good money after bad IMO.'"
i dont think you should just chuck them out but i would demote them if they go insolvent and give another club ago in SL ,they add nothing tbh if the local peaple dont back SL then you have to give it too someone else who will ,tbf they where dropped in at the deep end too soon they need to build up interest in wales over years

| Rugby League has been growing at grass roots level in London with more people than ever playing the game at amateur level.
The game is getting a foothold - it's a slow and painstaking business but progress has definitely been made.
The demise of Harlequins RL would put all this back IMO and that is why the RFL would not let it happen.

| Now that FC are making a profit, should they pay the bail out money back to the RFL to assist other clubs, after all, without it they would be in NL at best or even out of business.

Figure varied in the press, but they had their debts cleared and a full set of players, directors and coaches thrown in. Probably in excess of a million.

can you really blame them, look at all the gloating at rubbing of hands, expecially by Lilley when hull were financially in the same position, and i'm sure iirc with debts less than yours. and before you say anything, even though we joined together with gatehead, to stay alive, we didn't deserve it, and if we had gone out of business or relegated to div2 even so be it.
You would think that after all these years, clubs and the RFL would be able to be organise themselves to be in a position of stability, but they seem to be just getting worse, not better

Not read the thread, and if its anything like the threads on this subject across a lot of forums it will be contaminated with a load of derision, disbelief or inconvenient-truth dismissal. All the figures I have checked out so far are accurate, though.
The limitation is that in some cases (e.g Wire, Hudds) there is a parent company and sometimes other group companies involved. Other than Bulls, few clubs present consolidated group accounts so you need to get all the group member accounts and attempt a pro-forma consolidation to get a more complete picture. You also have to be mindful of exceptional items, like the 7-figure profit arising out of the sale of the cricket ground in Leeds' accounts, which gives them a profit of about £1.2m but stripping out that item gives an underlying loss of about £200k (no big deal, btw).
I thought Hudgell was remarkably and encouragingly-forthcoming in what he shared on the finances with you guys.

Two points regarding Quins...
1. The RFL haven't directly funded them, so there's no money to stop throwing.
2. Without a team in London there is no TV deal.
