Well, this is fun.

Whatever did happen to the steering group?

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

I didn't even start a thread?

There's evil afoot...

:)
The thread you posted on had been given a clear steer (pardon the pun) on its content.
Rather then send your question to the Trash Can i thought it was a good topic to debate so gave it its own thread.

Ah, guessed as much.

Is anyone going to admit membership of this mysterious covert organisation?

Maybe, but they would then have to kill you.

They'll never take me alive.

Come on, duckface, here's the story so far:
April:
http://www.hullkr.co.uk/steering-group-selected-308

May:
http://www.hullkr.co.uk/positive-feedback-to-first-steering-group-meeting-359
(As an aside, we've been discussing the untoward smugness of Club CEOs in recent days. Posting this about oneself could fall into that bracket, potentially : "Really impressed with Mike's passion for the Club and his delivery of answers was first class." )

July:

You're welcome. Really impressed with Mrs Barista's research, BTW, her response to Sandra the Terrorist's rather vague opening gambit was smashing.

You're talking about yourself in the third person?

Have you become a boxer?

So, nothing since July, don't know any of those people, one might be someone who posts on here, although I don't know them personally.

These groups could be really good but in reality do they ever turn out to be anything other than a shallow PR exercise?

I'm not saying that this group is that, but given the silence for the last five months it's hard to conclude otherwise.

I'd gladly be corrected by any of the members.

I was on the Steering Group but had to resign due to work commitments. The last meeting was held in September and as far as I know the next one is next month.

Does anyone know if the annual RSG pre-season Fans Forum is going ahead?

Last meeting of the steering group was held on the 9-11-11. Meeting are held roughly every two months with the next meeting scheduled for sometime in January. Further minutes of previous meeting are on the unofficial forum.

Below was what happened at the last meeting as kindly posted by Roverstrace.

RoversTrace wrote:Apologies for not getting this on sooner, but had a busy few days.

Feedback to questions raised on here:

Could something be put on the website to tell those who renewed by filling in the forms to let them know when/how they will get their passes?

Yes

Why are ther postage charges for passes when we have to collect them?

Mike Smith wasn't aware of this and thought that it was possible to have passes posted out. He will look into it.

Are there any measures in place yet for a system for the sale of KC derby tickets rather than having to stand out in the cold queueing for hours?

The ticket allocation is not yet known but as always it's expected that most people will want to be in the North Stand. Mike discussed the use of separate cash and card tills to allow queues to move quicker, but fans will be told of this in advance.

From a fan in Liverpool - online shop very poor in comparison to other SL clubs, could the club seriously consider looking at this as it must be costing the club money as fans who live far away feel let down by the lack of products on it.

With the new media and marketing team it is hoped that things on the website and online superstore will start to improve greatly. The new shirts will be on the online superstore after the shirt launch along with a range of leisurewear. The club are confident they have the right people to do the job, with key people working in this area

Other matters discussed:

Craig Sandercock - he is very big on players mingling with fans and it's expected that the fans will see a big difference in this area.

Stanley Gene - back at the club this week in a 3 part role. He will be coaching, working with the sports trust with local schools and also be a matchday ambassador for the club.

Success of Catalans and Curry night - the club plan to repeat this for every away game that appears on Sky next season.

The Steering Group were introduced to Joe Clutterbrook, the club's new Marketing Manager who brings a vast amount of previous experience to the role.

Keith Earle, club psychologist, Focus Groups - the group were split into three smaller groups to discuss ideas for competitions at the club, and also ideas for prizes for those competitions. The following suggestions were made:

Prediction League
Dream Team
Guess the Score Accumulator (stats based)
Spot the Ball
Face in the Crowd/home and away
Design a t-shirt/Christmas Card (kids) with the winning design made up and becoming merchandise in the shop, a portion of the profits going to a local charity
Link up with local youth teams to run half time competition, mini olympics, etc
Tug of War at H/T - Home v Away fans
Something similar to FC's Touchline Tussle
Ongoing Teamcard draw - one number drawn each week (updated version of lottery?)

Prizes suggested:
Photoshoot with player of choice/team
Day watching the team train
To be the 'Face of Hull KR' the following season
More obvious prizes of Season Passes, tickets, vouchers for shop, scarves, etc
Local youth teams to win a day's training with the team/coach

I think that's just about everything!

If you don't have access to the Unofficial fans forum for whatever reason and want the minutes of the previous meeting I'll happily pass them on. If you are on the forum and are not aware we do actually have a steering group forum where you can post questions and ideas and somebody on the steering group will bring those ideas to the table at the next meeting. Again I can post those questions for you if your not on the unofficial fans forum.

‎"They supercede individuals, they supercede the team and they supercede the club. Our club is a traditional, working class club and the supporters are loyal and passionate and to see them go away happy really makes my day." Craig Sandercock.
