International Chairman
After watching Boots n All last night and the debate as to extending the World Club Challenge to more then the winners of the respective Grand Finals.
If it is to be extended when should it be played, before during or after the season, should it be 2,3 or 4 teams involved, if 3 should it be the two Grand Finalists and the Challenge Cup winners, what about player burn out, will it c hange the number of teams in SL, what about the pre season matches the Exiles game and the international scene.
I would be interested to hear other peoples points of view.

It could be an option. If it happened, we could abbreviate the play-offs - top 4 straight knock-out. Without P&R though, that means interest in SL ends too soon for too many teams, IMO.
I agree with Stevo on Hetherington's suggested format. It'd fit in easily with the existing calendar, I admit, but I'd have no interest in 3rd vs 3rd and 2nd vs 2nd, unless it was Rovers playing - even then it'd just seem like a high profile friendly.
The Aussie TV deal will mean more of our best will go out there, so I'm not sure how competitive we'd be if they started taking it seriously. And if they don't, what's the point?
Keep it as it is, for me, I don't think there is too much extra mileage in it, unfortunately.
Clarke's point about the AFL was well made - I think we often look at the wrong sports for ideas and comparisons.

Hetherington mentioned the Champions League not affecting international football - i disagree. There are a variety of factors at play, but the international football has been diminished, IMO and the CL has contributed. The Heineken Cup is a more positive example, but club RU makes some big compromises in its domestic competitions. Would we accept our World Cup running while weakened clubs play on in SL?

Sort out the issues in the domestic game such as club finances, the semi-pro game etc. before moving onto something else.

Me I would like to see the top four play in the world club challenge don't like the idea of 1v1 or 2v2 or 3v3 make it a round robin and play at the end of season so all teams are up for it i say bring it on we talk about player burnout but years ago the players played weekends and midweek and most had jobs has well i know its faster now but the jobs they had to do must make up for the burnout if you see my point

JOHN THE REDBOY I have been a rovers fan all my life and my grandkids are as well

Terrible idea, as FET says, we have many domestic issues to address first before even considering this. Did we learn nothing after the farce of 1997?

Just Hetherington wanting to finance a new stand at Headingley if you ask me.

Now, hang on, maybe he's onto something.................

With these ads being Adsense and being all clever n'all that I ask; who's been typing about Muslim models? Weird.
