It was 18 points better in fairness and FC converted all their tries.
The Lynch try Rovers were guilty of being caught napping and the Green try was because of the wind.
It's nice to win any Derby but I'd much rather win the ones involving 2 points so take this games for the purpose they serve.

Having not read the report I can't comment on that - but I think the difference was for all to see. The 1st half against Wigan wasn't exactly convincing stuff, but a week on against Hull we looked a lot sharper and got into gear quite well. Maybe the quality of the opposition was a factor but we looked more or less ready for the season - whereas Hull were a bit like us playing Wigan last week.

Indeed the 7 tries to 3 appear to back up that argument our defence wasn't better than yours

plus very little creativity despite using 4 half backs during the game and a ball playing looseman for the first time in years. You scored 2 of your 3 tries off kicks (with one of those an unforced rovers error). All this after gentle has been telling everyone you're ahead of were you want to be and have been pulling up trees in training. Still, I'm sure it's nothing to worry about keep telling yourselves it was only because we've played loads more games than you (40 mins in reality) and and you'll easily beat wire when the real stuff starts.

I bet hull still finish above us in the league thou.

can't see it myself, they do not have enough strength in depth for me their first choice forwards are good but have very little on the bench, I can't see them going all season with just 4 props and not getting injuries either.

The more game time thing has been over egged a bit. The way some of the numpties on Humberside are going on its as if we have played 2 game and Fc played none. Now either you count the Fev and the York game for each or you discount them both. Add to that the Wigan game was essentially a 40 min run out for most of the team the freshness shouldn;t have been much different.

I agree it was a meaningless game and was a chance for both teams to try things out but if thats the case then some people need to stop making excuses.

I must admit I didn`t go to the game,as I have stated elsewhere I just do not like friendlies.(Although the word "friendly" is stretching it a bit with games between the two Hull clubs.)
Although I admit I am still disappointed we lost to Rovers, I will try to look on a positive stance in maybe your team did in fact do Hull a favour by exposing the weaknesses we need to address.

2 years ago, we lost the RH testimonial game 28-16. This was our 1st pre-season game to Hull's second. We were also on the end of a James Child inspired penalty count of 17-4. However, this game still counted to the overall "score" of 3-1 as the season progressed.

How times change.

Barring a catasrophy, i cant see Hull been above us at the end of the season as in my opinion, they simply dont have the strength in depth, especialy in the pack.
We, on the otherhand have quite a lot of cover, especialy in the pack, in fact i would have to go back quite a number of years to remember the last time we had such an abbundance of riches in the forwards.
Plus, although the unfortunate injury to Blake Green has been a bit of a dampener, i believe we have good cover in that position with either Withers or Hall who i thought looked very promising in that role on Sunday.
