My point is that he is generally on his feet or walking back indicating he has made no tackle or has been passed by play.., if he stood his ground instead of employing his rush defence at every opportunity this would not be the case...or if he made more of second effort once he has missed the tackle or mis-read the play this would not be the case..whichever way it is dressed he is a weakness in defence that is exploited week in, week out...

Wrong, this is what Morgs wants him to do. I asked a player who confirmed Morgs tells Welham to rush out of the line and pressure the attacker (normally a 2nd row/centre) therefore if that player does get the pass off it does leave the winger rather stranded - But i dont see how thats Welhams fault if hes been told to do it.
So maybe its not his defence that is a weakness but the tactics used that have been exploited?

That is the simple answer. If Morgan doesn't want him to shoot out of the line all he has to do is say "Kris, stay in the line" The only conclusion that can be drawn from this tactic is that he is under instructions to come out of the line, it's not as if it's a recent thing is it? If it was a one off you could blame the player for having one of Stevo's famous "brain explosions" since it's every game and has been a feature I think of every game Welham has played, then he is doing it because that's what the coach wants him to do.

That is probably why he such a JM favourite...but if he was not so robotic he could perhaps have a word with JM and say "its not working boss" (or perhaps JM knows Welham struggles with the finer points of reading the attack at centre and feels he has no choice to use this way if he is going to play him)..and do you summise Jake Webster refuses to employ the same style or just reads the game a little better...??

I would suggest that the fact he was in the top 3 missed tackles in the entire league in 09, the top 10 last year and is already in the top 6 this year would infer there is a weakness.....and the lack of improvement over this time is a massive concern whichever way it is....

pretty sure he played loose forward for the reserves a lot and was coming off the bench in that position earlier in the season
