Voice of the Fans

Saturday 29th October 2016 – 9:30am to 1:30pm
Heritage Quay, University of Huddersfield

This year’s Must Attend Event for all Rugby League fans!
Supporters Direct’s Voice of the Fans conference will be held on the morning of Saturday 29th October at the RFL’s archive, Heritage Quay, at the University of Huddersfield.
We are very pleased to announce this year’s Voice of the Fans keynote speaker as Brian Barwick, Chairman of the Rugby Football League and a board member of the Rugby League International Federation.
Jon Dutton Director of Projects and Planning says ‘The RFL are once again delighted to support the Voice of the Fans Conference. ‘After a hugely successful event in 2015 the Conference offers a great opportunity for those with a passion for the game to come together and discuss the topical issues facing the sport ahead of England’s first game in the Four Nations.’
Delegates will have the opportunity to take part in a lively Q&A session hosted by the excellent Alex Simmons, founder and presenter of Rugby AM, with a panel including of Jon Dutton from the RFL, former Cronulla Sharks Chairman Damian Irvine, former England player, dual Challenge cup winner and youngest ever Great Britain player to tour, Bobby Goulding and Brigid Power from RL Cares who will discuss the latest plans around the National Rugby League Museum.
Please pre-submit questions to the panel via email to Nicola.hudson@supporters-direct.org
There will be two workshops to attend on celebrating club and game heritage with Helen Peacock from the Heritage Lottery Fund & Brigid Power from RL Cares and a session dedicated to Supporters Direct’s ongoing work assisting and empowering fans with a focus on supporter-ownership and a presentation on the subject from Damian Irvine.

The timetable for the morning is as follows with the event ending at 1.30pm to give delegates time to make their way to the John Smiths Stadium for the afternoon’s Four Nations match:

9.30am         Arrival & Registration
10.30am       Opening Address & Keynote Speaker
11:15am Q&A session
12.00pm         Workshops (Celebrating heritage & SD & The Trust Movement)
