Post subject:  Can you help?
For a few months in 1967, I played rugby in Warrington with a lad from Barrow. He was centre and I was stand-off.
A year later I saw him on television playing for Barrow. He was a policeman, had dark hair and was slim (about 5' 11"). Not much to go on but I've been trying to think of his name. Can anyone help?

Definitely a Cumbrian. He would be about 21 in 1967

Sorry no joy up to now.
I'll keep checking our records. One of my ex-colleagues who joined the Barrow force in 1966 and is an ardent Barrow fan cannot come up with a likely suspect. There is a book detailing every player to have played for Barrow and as I scan through it I will bear your query in mind.

I don't know if he was in the Barrow force.
We played together at the poilice training school in Warrington. I was in the Wigan Borough police but left 2 years later.
I was stand-off and he was centre. We played well together. I'm rubbish at remembering names and it was 40 years ago.
I'm in Barrow on Sunday to watch the game. Just made me think of him.
