This Saturday (May 18th), Rochdale Library have invited me to start their programme of events for Adult Literacy Week by talking about my four mainly humourous Lancashire novels which all have a strong Rugby League background. I'll talk about the two things that inspired me to start writing as a hobby, firstly the old saying about work "they could write a book about this place. It would be a best seller" and secondly Rugby League which I was first introduced to stood in the Boys' Pen at Knowsley Road in 1947.
I have worked at quite a number of firms over the years mainly as a draughtsman and among my top six I include Ferranti Transformers at Hollinwood. Everybody is welcome to just turn up, no need to book, even though this is a library and it's free as well.
Visit //www.geofflee.net for details of my novels 'One Winter', 'One Spring', 'One Summer' 'One Autumn' 'Two Seasons'. and "Three Good Years" All six feature Rugby League against a humourous Lancashire/Yorkshire background and are inspired by the old saying about work: "They could write a book about this place. It would be a best seller."
