If this does take place, the 12 Super League teams would be split across the eight groups. That would mean four of the groups would have two Super League teams in, with four groups having one. I wonder how that will be decided? I bet the top four teams in Super League would be put in groups on their own.
The format might be:
Round One: 10 League One clubs plus 10 amateur teams - 10 winners progress. Round Two: 14 Championship sides plus 10 Round One winners - to give the 12 teams to progress to the Group stage.

Interesting. The problem with the current format is it makes it near impossible for Community or League One club to get a plum draw. This, at least sounds like it, would make it more possible
