That doesn't surprise me at all.
What have I been banging on about for weeks ...
I'll remind folk.
1. This division is going to be bloody hard.
2. We have signed next to nobody famous.
Silk purse and sow's ear springs to mind.

Seems the bookies agree with me.
It doesn't mean I'm right though, or them ... but they are no mugs.

Well if that doesn't inspire the squad to do well nothing will.
TM should stick that up on the changing room wall to wind them up.

You don't need to be 'famous' to be any good though do you. The history of sport is littered with big name signings who haven't preformed. I'd rather have lesser known players who want to make a name for themselves or be willing to shed blood for the cause than sign a 'big i am'.
The league will be hard but i don't think that we are the third worst team in CC1, but for a couple of results going the wrong way at the end of the season we could have easily finished in second place.

Its hardly surprising when we have no halfback pairing - barrow have signed two quality halfbacks in Jack Pedley and Scott Kaighen - why can't we sign one? Speaking of which am I alone in thinking not everything is on the up and up with barrow? they have made several very impressive signings despite having debts of 500 or 600 thousand ( I can't remember which one it is)

Agree Rupert ,just because you havnt heard of any of the players doesnt mean they are poor players, we had our first training session last night and the lads trained really hard (no mean feet after the weekend ,if youll pardon the pun ).If i were a betting man ( WHICH I AM NOT!!!!!!!!!) i think we are worth a punt to finish in the top two. Give me hungry guys with a point to prove over some salard dodger coming to the end of his career eyeing an easy pay day. We have a good mix of youth and experience this season, with some lads released by super league and championship clubs having points to prove :GROUPHUG: COYD

Well said.
I know you can't be specific but are there any more irons in the fire as regards adding to the squad?

I suspect that if you want more than a fiver on the Dons then you will have no chance with any bookmakers of getting anywhere near the 20/1.

To be fair, it's one bookmaker and not one that appears to have any major interest in or close links with RL. If Hills and Stan James quote similar prices then I'll worry.

The comments raised about half-backs on a number threads by a good few of us remain very valid though.
