Martin Rowlands, one of the Dons' community coaches, has been helping out with the coaching of the Balby Rugby League Academy.
The Academy is currently running a level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport (Development, Coaching and Fitness) two year course at the Balby Carr Community Sports and Science College.
The course offers specific leadership qualifications that is geared towards rugby league. It also provides access routes to professional rugby league career paths and avenues to university.

Balby Rugby League Academy 36 South Holderness 8 In difficult conditions Balby won in impressive fashion in the clash against league leaders South Holderness.
From the kick off Balby gathered the ball and after powerful surges by Tom Green, and Dale Ashcroft this set the platform for the ball to be handled swiftly across the backs for winger Frank Sekeyre to scorch 80 metres to score an excellent try. This was converted superbly by Jack Calver to give Balby the perfect start.
Balby continued in great style to upset the visitors and it came as no surprise when the Balby backs opened up the South Holderness defence for second rower Josh Fowler to cross wide out. South Holderness hit back to reduce the arrears to 12-6 with a converted try.
The Balby pack were dominant at this stage and after concerted pressure as Sam Kirk made inroads into the defence. Fantastic passing from Calver and Wedgewood allowed Jordan Cull to score in the corner. The impeccable boot of Calver converted from the touchline to make in 18-4 at the interval.
From the restart South Holderness hit back to score an unconverted try to reduce the arrears to 10 points. The game looked now evenly poised but Balby picked up another gear in defence. Outstanding tackling from Jay Chambers and Alex Keeton kept the visitors out.
Balby then turned defence into attack, Connor Burkitt fed Owen Wedgewood who smartly passed to Josh Nicklin to go over for the first of his 2 tries. Nicklin again scored 3 minutes later as Alex Keeton was held up over the line after bulldozing his way over the line.
Calver then converted his final conversion making it 6 out of 6 with the boot for the afternoon as Wedgewood then dummied his way over to seal the victory and cap an outstanding team display.
The lads go in to next week's home game against Selby with renewed confidence hoping to make it two wins out of two.
