I know people from the club read this, can i say well done for sorting out this local game against the Doncaster local teams. also can the club let the supporters know how the club are going to support the local Doncaster select teams, are they being allowed a small % of the gate money to help to support the local teams or is the club going to look after the 3 clubs involved in some other way.
It would be good to hear that the three local clubs are to benefit financially in some way from the fixture ... (especially at £8 per adult per ticket)
This game could become a great pre season occasion which both the supporters of the Dons and the amateur game in Doncaster could get really behind and show that we are all pulling in the same direction.
I just hope the Dons are treating the amateur teams with the respect they deserve and doing their bit to keep the game strong at all levels.
We can win so many more spectators just by treating people right.

Too true mate. In the games where we play teams on much the same level, I feel happy there will be no pinching of talent. When we play such as Hull and Fev (to come) ........ it's almost as though I do and I don't want any of our players to shine ....... cos they could just be nicked. We are almost better off with old has-beens who can still play, but nobody wants to nick, rather than young talent that people do want to nick. But that's the nature of the game at our level with our attendances, which simply stated means, if we get anybody good we will lose them, therefore we can NEVER go anywhere ..... simples.

it happens in every other sport as it has always happened in RL - the trick is to have a coach plus staff capable of getting 110% out of his squad at the time in order to progress then, when the better players are sold off find more promising kids to carry on the ritual - the salary cap creates this situation - the quality and knaus of the coaching staff & management is as important as the squad, maybe more so.Tony Miller seems the ideal man or the job IMO

The problem is, the "selling off" bit. It is a rarity at this level, as it is at all levels of the sport. We have got a good young player, developed him into a star, then recieved a good transfer fee which we could spend on someone else that would be great and give a clear route for squad development. However we're playing at a semi professional level so when a richer/professional club comes along it is hard to do anything about it, and anything we do get is nominal at best. The same as for amateur clubs who develop the grass routes players for semi-pro teams like us to come and snaffle players with no return
I do think it is possible to go somewhere from this position, we have been in worse positions before and ended up in better positions. it just takes an awful long time and requires constant visible development and improvement

yes of course, everything you say is correct but Tony Miller,or someone of his type seems the ideal person to make a positive push for progress (wasn't he with Cas U21s ? from memory ?) - he knows what the club needs and can only try to find players (young or experienced) he feels suitable to make the step up - he knows the better players will be snapped up but has to try to get the team up to the next level. Then, when this hopefully happens and the team actually makes the step-up he can go with it and re-build for that next level. This has to be his target surely ? not just to produce a team capable of holding it's own in mid-table ? otherwise, what's the point of Carl & Joh Scarrow etc continuing ?
