The draft proposals appear to have been drawn up for the restructuring of the game outside of Super League following the recent supporters consultation and now the clubs are being for the specific final thoughts.

The main change appearing to be an expansion of the Championship based on criteria on and off the field to 14 teams with a change to the central funding based on a clubs contribution to Rugby League and the local community. Then depending on interest from existing conference sides and expansion to Championship 1

And also the proposals would appear to offer incentives to encourage neighbouring clubs to merge according to the Rugby Leaguer & League Express.
Double funding would be available to any club formed until 2014 and a championship place guaranteed.
That's only the same as the two clubs would have got ... but to one club instead.

This better not happen ... any clubs agreeing to this deserve to be ostracised.
I for one would not go to see a Dons side that had joined with say the Eagles.

They are pretty much the words in the paper ... that's all I know.

Perhaps they were looking more at these ' new ' clubs they are going to have to find

So if we don't make it into the Championship where does that leave us? In a league with how many other clubs? I hope this is not a roundabout way of the RFL getting rid of the left overs!

There will still be a Championship One, which could include new teams (such as Bramley, Nottingham, Hemel, Coventry)

I don't think that this is the level of opposition that we want to be playing against. We'd probably win quite a few games but the standard of rugby would be much worse. No disrespect to the teams you have mentioned but we need to be with the 'proper' teams.

I'd imagine the hope is to bring those teams up to the standard, which to be fair there is not a great deal of difference between for some teams already in Champ One.

But it would be a huge difference to get ourselves in the Championship as I agree that in ther short term at least the standard will drop.
