Gateshead Thunder are pleased to announce that current Ireland Head Coach and former Thunder Head Coach Andy Kelly has returned to Gateshead Thunder as a First Team Coach.

Kelly, who has also coached Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, Dewsbury Rams and Featherstone Rovers, took Ireland to the 2008 Rugby League World Cup where they were defeated in the Semi Final Qualifier by Fiji.

Kelly and Director of Rugby Chris Hood first had discussion last week with regards to Kelly working with Thunder, and Hood is delighted that he has accepted.

Not enough play makers for the Dons (we have one now Allen has gone)....despite Gateshead being theoretically weak....is asking for it IMHO.

I'm guessing either Ely or Kesik will have to partner Simon Brown unless TM has another option we are unaware of.
