According to the Leigh site , the RFL Board will decided the make up of the leagues below SL on Friday.

The problem being which division Gateshead will be in after Liquidation & does that decision affect Leighs relegation.

Is this not a similar situation to us at the end of our season in the Big league in 94 where we had to start again on the bottom rung or does this not count for expansion clubs ?

I believe that Gateshead have asked to be placed in Championship One.

If the RFL agree to that (and why wouldn't they?) the only real decision would be about Leigh.

If the RFL then confirm Leigh's relegation, the Championship would operate with just 10 teams.

Leigh should stay up because if Gateshead had not played players that they could not afford to pay then they would have probably been relegated instead of Leigh.

To be honest, I think that Leigh were a little unlucky to be relegated (if that decision is ratified).

Morally, Gateshead should be deducted points, finish next to bottom and be relegated along with us.

On a personal note, Leigh will make the Championship a stronger division with their support and also Championship One may be a little more competative without them.

For what its worth I think Leigh should be in the Championship & Gateshead in Championship 1.

Common sense would agree with that but this is rugby league.

Gateshead are set to meet with the RFL this Wednesday (11th Nov).

Well Leigh are sorted . Back to the Championship for them.
