Was listening to radio sheffield on my way home from work in mid week. They have a programme at six called football heaven.

They were talking about Sheffield Eagles playing some games next season at Bramall Lane (Sheff Utd). Some irate fans were phoning saying it wont work look at Wigans pitch.

The presenter, was trying to think of ground sharing where it has worked, he read out a few. Said I cant think of any more.

I was gobsmacked that they didnt use doncaster rovers and the dons as a example (especially the belle vue pitch - perfect example of it working).

But that guy comes down to the keepmoat on a regular basis when the Rovers are a live feature on the radio station. So what chance have we got when people who come to the stadium dont even realise the Dons play there.

Think we definately need to get a proper sign up, we need it to say the Dons RLFC under neath the Rovers bit, i know it costs money, but as has been said by main other people on these forums, many people dont know where we play.

Someone at work, asked me who the Dons are, shes only a young lass. I told her rugby league, and she said oh i went a few times to see the dragons and enjoyed it. i had to explain it was the same team and had a nme change. She said, theyll always be the dragons. i argued back always the Dons.

Good example of needing a handle that will attract new support.

Last year I had to e-mail BBC Sheffield to tell them we were no longer the Dragons.

Its a massive job but not impossible to raise the club's profile.

I'm willing to bet Wingan's pitch is like ours and only gets annihilated when there's football played on it. Seems to be a pattern with football teams sharing 'their grounds'. They'll whine about the pitch but won't go look at the evidence in the off season. Keepmoat pitch always looks in top nick as I think ours does as well.

Yes its certainly football that does the most damage to the pitch when they kick the ball it kicks the surface up aswell as slide tackles etc. look at the huge bald patches on football pitches near the goal and the centre spot no such problem when rugby leagues played on it as simply running isnt kicking much of the turf up.
