DONCASTER Rugby League Club head coach Tony Miller is hoping to bolster his depleted squad ahead of Sunday's Co-operative Championship home game against Toulouse.
"I've got a few irons in the fire but there have been no developments as yet," said Miller after last night's training session.
In addition to losing Kyle Briggs for up to eight weeks following an emergency appendix operation at the weekend, the Don's also lost the services of winger Dean Colton (groin) and forward Nathan Freer (concussion) in Sunday's 42-12 defeat at Halifax.
"The club doctor has had a look at Dean and he doesn't think it is as bad as when he first did it and that he'll be back within two to four weeks," said Miller.
"That obviously rules him out of Sunday's game and Nathan will also be unavailable.
"There is probably a 50-50 chance that prop Mick Haley, who trained tonight, could return after a long lay-off with a groin problem.
"There is also an outside chance that Mark Castle could also come into contention.
"He did a bit of training tonight but his knee is still badly bruised and there is still some swelling and that is affecting his movement. So it is a case of just waiting to see if there is any improvement at Friday night's training session.

Well those irons had better start coming out of the fire.....because we can't afford to go 8 weeks with only one decent half back.
With respect to those players that could and have filled in.

Phil Hasty playing at East Hull would be a good replacement and I recall someone saying if we got Bovil Hasty would follow.

Have to agree Phil, that Hasty would be a good recruit as well as another prop.
