I also couldn't make the game but wow what a game to miss. Well done all the players and fans who made the trek, at least it was a much better drive home than the last time we were up in the back of beyond.

Yes ... but how intriguing?
An unused sub nowadays is almost as rare as rocking horse poop.

What can we surmise from this?
Well at 32-16 down and things looking a bit dicey, there is no way you would let a fit sub sit on his butt when folk are flagging and getting beat.
So the only conclusion is that he either didn't feel too well on the day or he's nowhere near match fit, in which case why take him, unless we only had 16 fit players.

Which brings me back to what is the problem?
There must be one.
He played OK versus Wakey and has had 3 weeks since to improve his fitness.

I don't want him rushing back and injuring himself ... but why put him in against Wakey, if that was a possibility?
Perhaps it was considered less important than league matches, and we wouldn't want to risk him in important league games, but it was OK in a cup game that was lost before the start (in theory).

Which brings us back to yesterday, why was he on the bench and didn't play?

Which also incidentally, makes Donny's win even more remarkable.
COYD

He'll play against Oldham ...

Are we all talking about Edwards as the unused sub? He played the last 20 minutes or so!

Also rain soaked derwent park?? It was the best weather we had all weekend , it was glorious during the game.

Now to the match.

We should have been home and hosed well before the siren. It was very nearly a game thrown away.
We were coasting just before halftime when we gave away 2 tries just before the hooter. Then straight after the break we did the same.We gave them scores and field position through our own bad decision making and errors. The last few minutes of the first half it should have been up the jumper and kick for touch.Instead we were playing daft passes under our own posts , turning the ball over and conceding tries when we shouldnt.Worky should never have been in the match. We were easily the best side for the first 35 minutes.

At least towards the end of the match the lads never gave up. As soon as we got the first try back we seemed to get the scent of a chance of getting back in it.

The winning try though was unbelievable. Just as Green was going over and putting the ball down the siren went! Great timing! This caused a mass exodus of worky fans giving us loads of grief for some strange reason. We also had a cackling Mrs Brown soundalike behind us all the game who suddenly disappeared when the match was over.

Well done to the lads for never giving up but we have to start playing sensible rugby and putting teams away when we have the chance.Well done boys!!!

Come On You Dons !!!!

No. I said he was on the bench.

For the record though, League Express did state he was 'unused'.

He played last 15 , 20 mins or so. He still needs gametime but hes getting there. He put Potts away with a lovely pass late on and hes great to have back fit again.

Also whats the story with Spaven? Why wasnt he even on the bench yesterday??

Well thank goodness for that.
The paper said he was unused ... which I could not comprehend.
Sorted!
