I appreciate that it would put the player in a difficult position by naming him. If he has said that players didn't play to their potential, that isn't necessarily accusing them on not trying.

Players under-perform for all sorts of reasons. Pressure affects players in different ways: Some rise to the challenge whilst others don't play to their best. I would hope this was the reason for our Workington showing.

Would it be possible to clarify further, Olddon? Did the player specifically say some players weren't trying?

Thanks.

Very refreshing are the posts from DM. In a world of seeing it as it is and telling it as such ie cynicism, DM's posts stand out to counter that. Mind you I've always found optimism to be overrated.

Optimists are fools, they can only end up being disappointed by events.

If there is an issue to be sorted regarding player attitudes, and the coaching staff are aware of it, there's no point us speculating any more on here.

You're not being boring Weighman ... you're being very sensible!

Clarke Kent and Batman eh? It gets even better!

I'm not an optimist. I'm an eternal optimist!! LOL!

Seriously, I try to be a realistic optimist. I see things for what they are rather than through rose-tinted specs but I focus on what can positively be done to make improvements when things aren't as I'd like them to be. That philosophy has helped me through the difficult times in my life.

I'm sounding like a motivational coach here! LOL!

Negative energy is mainly destructive. I try to look for positive answers, as they are the ones that make a difference.

Getting back to the topic: The Play-Offs ...

We probably all agree that The Dons will need strengthening if we go up. It won't be a disaster if we don't go up. We have a good platform to build on. We can all be proud of what has been achieved since the low spot of losing to Siddall last year.

I hope we can beat Gateshead convincingly to boost confidence and take it from there.

It'll be great to have a coach load of us up there plus those going by car. Let's really get behind the guys and show them how much we appreciate their efforts throughout the season.

I am now curious if this is about the same conversation that i overheard. This player seemed extremely annoyed. And being a player that always gives 100% it must be frustrating when others dont.
Lets just hope the team prove how good they can be at gateshead and put any issues they have behind them.
We clearly can be good enough and seem to finally have the option to field our strongest side!!

back on topic who are the opposition likely to be in round one assuming we win at Gateshead?

Say what you mean and mean what you say because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.

We need Swinton to beat Rochdale or even draw on Friday night & we win on Sunday . We play the 7th club probably Oldham .

If we come 5th we play the 6th club at home.
