Well:-

Workington were the best side I have seen this season & D Holt was outstanding.
We were poor , no ideas , poor discipline , no kicking game & little enthusiasm .

Was it just a bad day at the office , what has gone wrong since the last quarter of the Haven game.

in my opinion only carbutt butts and kesik played like they wanted to win. and the passion was written all over kesiks face after the match. emmet fawcwtt and spaven were shocking. never looked interested. we need to be better at gateshead. come on dons!!

I can only observe that the forum being down has led to a lack of praise for the Dons.
I was called away (a euphemism) at about 63 minutes of this top-of-the-table-clash and I missed all of the Dons points.
Workington were just scoring a try at NIL-25 as I left the stadium. Imagine my disappointment?
But I whistled away as I skipped up the road into Donny, content that I had purchased my season ticket knowing that the lads are nailed on to get us into the same league as Sheffield.
Well done lads
Can it get any better?
I think not.

Oh dear ... the Dons were Out-muscled, Out-paced, and Out-thought throughout the game.

Full credit to Workington who won with plenty to spare.

In the first game against Workington we matched their pack. Not this time - they got far too many off-loads away and ran us ragged.

It was a similar display to Keighley away for the Dons.

As we don't have a general, we seem to lose our way when we get under pressure. Our other weaknesses are then exposed.

I agree with Donny11 that Mick Butterfield, Kyle Kesick, and Matt Carbutt were our best players. They were the ones who looked capable of breaking the Workington line.

I think the rest of the lads tried. I don't want to be critical of them in that department. The truth was that Workington were a much better side and we couldn't handle them.

Come on lads ... let's get back on the right track with a good win at Gateshead! See you all there!

You're not Ray Green are you?

A brief look at the stats over our last 3 games against good opposition shows the following:-
Points scored 32 (average ... less than 11 per game, and two of these were home games)
Points against 89 (average ... nearly 30 a game)
This shows what I have been saying for a while now, which is:-
We don't have enough forward power (we are on average too small), and we don't have enough creativity OR experience at half back.
And that when we come up against tough defences that expose and highlight those two deficiencies our normally great defence can't cope with being on the back-foot for most of the game.

Those are the areas we must recruit wisely in as we spend next season in this same division.
Unfortunately, and let's not kid ourselves, this side will not get us promotion.

No offence intended to anyone, but i think some people on here need to get real with their expectations of where we are.
Ok, yesterday we were well beaten by a bigger, better side on the day, but the previous three games against the same opposition, we won.
I thought some of the abuse being dished out to the players was well out of order at times.
Everything we tried went wrong, but maybe on another day who knows...
We are still in the play offs, so anything is possible and at the end of the day we are only into our second season as a reformed club. If we don't make it this year it may not be a disaster as i don't think we are strong enough yet to survive in the CC.
Moan over.

Also no offence meant.
Our expectation is, that when we play a side on the same number of points as ourselves at home, and a side as you say we have beaten, is at the very least we COMPETE.
Not get HUMILIATED.

Workington themselves were in a similar position to ourselves last year.
And look where they are.

I was not one of those abusing players, by the way.
I should imagine I was long gone by then.

As for abuse, I don't condone it, but can understand it when fans are treated to that pile of crap just after they have bought their new season tickets..

I agree Rupert - we should be proud of what we've achieved overall.

I hate to see players being abused. That is completely out of order. They put their necks on the line for us week-in, week-out and we need to remember that.

Of course everyone is disappointed when we get beaten but there should be no place for abuse.

When things go wrong, like yesterday, it's important that we all stick together and get behind the lads. They'll be just as disappointed as we were, I'm sure.

By the way, S/O, I'm not Ray Green! LOL! :D

I wasn't suggesting it was you giving the stick S-O, it was just a general comment at others unknown.

No-one was more disappointed than my self yesterday, but this has happened to most teams this year. Look at Keighley losing at London an South Wales, i would rather get beaten by Workington than those two.

As i said if we don't make it this year then it's not the end of the world.
