Went to the Sal as promised...lured by the promise of Jaipur.
All to no avail...it lasted but ONE night according to one of the girls.
However had a couple of pints of EPA (English Pale Ale).....very nice and hoppy.
Bumped into, and chatted with, Moonlight (Alan) and his father-in-law Glynn, which was very enjoyable.

Went into the Sal myself after last nights match (although didn't get there until about 10.15pm) and tried the Milestone St Georges Legend 4.0%.

Also last night ...
Acorn Old Moor Porter 4.4% in the Red Lion and
Springhead Old Tom 3.8% in the Gatehouse.

Moonlight...if you're looking in.
This is the beer I couldn't remember by Wentworth Brewery....which I though was gorgeous...
This is an old quote I found by someone.

Quote:We opted for pints of Rockingham Spalt (4.5% ABV, Wentworth Brewery Ltd, Rotherham, South Yorkshire)This is a lovely beer with a nice chewy bitter taste, grapefruity with a golden colour.

No wonder I liked it......note the grapefruit bit.....just as you said with Jaipur. It looks like they don't make it anymore. I was right about the spalt bit...it's a hop producing region in Germany.

And the other one....the treacly one at 6.2% was this...
5th one down...

I may try that this afternoon ... can't guarantee to like it as much as yourself though.

Cheers SO, very agreeable evening throughout. It will be interesting when Sue puts the barrel of Jaipur on that she has in the cellar. I will contact the Sal and find out. May get a sniff of it this time and not let Gary finish half a barrel on one night.  The Marstons EPA was a worthy substitute but just edged out (flavour wise) IMO by The Old Empire IPA that they make.

went into the corner pin after last nights game and stayed there till it shut at 1, so much for a quick pint on way home!!. a couple of superb dark ales on in there at the minute, including one from a whitby brewery.

Went to beer festival in clifford last weekend, and had a georgous pint, Saltaire Triple Chocoholic. The landlord says he is hoping to have this on in the pin in about2 or 3 weeks time.

how many dons fans are members of Camra?. I am a member of Lagrad (which is a subsidiary of camra) camra (campaign for real ale) and lagrad (lesbian and gay real ale drinkers).

Just wondering if we could have a subsidiary group for Dons Real Ale Drinkers. The membership could be a couple of quid extra to the camra membership. And what could the initials be for the group?

whats people think, maybe then if we had a group we might be able to put pressure on the keepmoat to provide real ale. at the previous home game to last night, i spoke to one of the bar managers and he said it had been thought of, but they would need to guarantee they can shift a barrell when they put it on, as it would not keep until the next game. so get asking for it, and we may get a barrell on

I think a good few of us Rob. Myself and my good lady are members of Camra. Just renewed our membership and got a a decent amount of 50p off vouchers for Weatherspoons/Lloyds No 1.
