Laura will be coming to the Drum next Tuesday at 7.30 accompanied by her line manager Tom Hall to discuss how we could set up a Supporters Trust to either save the Dons or assist any business person interested in taking on the Dons.

Laura will be bringing some literature with her, but suggests we visit www.supporters-direct.org for more information about Trusts and I found the Hornets RL website of interest.

Had a chat with Darryl (Jemmo) last night reference the previous Supporters Trust and it seems like a hell of a lot of work needs to be done not only in getting a Trust up and running but more importantly keeping it running after the initial buzz has died down.

We have been warned. :)

A MEETING being held in the town tonight could lead to the formation of a supporters' co-operative to help run Doncaster Rugby League Club.
The meeting, which is open to all supporters, will be addressed by a leading member of the Rugby League Supporters' Trust.

Some form of co-operative, possibly including some local businessmen who have the Dons' interests at heart, is increasingly being seen as the best way to save the troubled club.

A similar sort of body came to the rescue of Championship One side Rochdale Hornets last year.

As of last night, no-one had come forward with a formal offer to take over the struggling Championship side since it entered administration ten days ago.

"That hasn't come as a surprise because we know that it is tough out there," said chief executive Dave Marshall last night. "No-one came forward eight months ago when myself and Karen (Bailey) took over the club and the economic climate hasn't changed in that time.

"There is interest out there; it is just a question of whether someone is going to put their name forward to take over the club.

"I think everyone at the club, and the administrator, is waiting to see what happens tonight."

Head coach Tony Miller: "We've spoken to the players about doing what we do best and that is playing and training and leaving the club's off-the-field problems to other people. The spirit in the camp has improved from what it was and the last three training sessions have been very good."

The Dons could have as many as four new faces at tomorrow's training session.

But they have lost the services of Leeds-based winger Wayne Reittie. "Wayne doesn't drive and used to travel over from Leeds with Mick Haley. He lives in Hunslet and has joined them."

For anyone not familiar with the Drum, the meeting will take place in the function room to the rear of the pub which can be accessed through the doors to the left of the bar which is directly in front of you on arrival.
