Righto, maybe a bit odd/random to some, however many of you may recall at the final hooter in 07 at NRC final 'homeward bound' was played . Now I know many of us hate that song, and in contrast some of us think it is very fitting for obvious reasons. Now I am guessing that this was done by popular demand and the club spoke to the authorities at RFL/Bloomfield rd.

Some of you may recall this track that a certeain Widnes fan recorded some years ago, bit corny and cheesy in parts, however very catchy and easy to sing a long too IMO.

Also a big fan of Widnes folk singer/songwriter Greg Oldfield, Greg was in a band of Widnes lads called the 'Fetch', who wrote some 'folky' stuff about our town. Many of you will probably have heard it before:

Anyone the point of my ramblings being, the club played a Greg Oldfield track prior to a few of the matches in 2006 IIRC, be great if they could consider it for our big final. Anyway, would probably be best suggested on TIW, however I was banned long long ago. 8)
Anyway just a thought. Ta

Seconded, good tune that. Very under-rated band.

Namedropper!

Doves are loving class! They were on at Delamere the other week but unfortunately for me I missed it :(

This debate always crops up about an anthem, Ring of Fire would have been ideal but I don't think the Utd fans in Widnes would be singing that!

Mersey Paradise / One Love / This is The One - Stone Roses
Anything by Chemical Brothers (Setting Sun,
Come Together or Hey Jude - The Beatles
Wonder of You - Elvis

I would probably go with Hey Jude, easily recognisible and can also be easily traded in for na,na,na,na-na-na-naaaaaaaa, na-na-na-naaaaaaa Wiiiiiiidnes!

Managed to make that gig.. meant me having to miss the last 10 minutes of Widnes vs Fev but it was truly excellent. Black and White town is a top tune and that would get my vote.

On that subject, how good is Delamere for watching a gig? Watched Weller there and The Charlatans. Gutted I missed Doves and also missed Embrace there too - loving top, top place to watch a gig with the stage at the bottom of the hill. Only bad thing is getting out the car park, but that was solved by getting a taxi the second time around.

B+WT is a choon but not a sing-a-long, hence Hey Jude for me - perhaps a poll of the suggestions?

It was absolutely brilliant..everyone gets a top view, it's fairly easy to get served at the bar and when the sun goes down it's just phenomenal!!

Gutted I missed Embrace too, pure quality. Always remember watching them support Snow Patrol in a gig in San Francisco.

Doves were brilliant..

Slightly less cool on the following night I went back and watched Katherine Jenkins with the missus and her folks... she is one gorgeous lady.. (applies to both my wife and Katherine Jenkins)
